Crocodile
The only prehistoric creature that appears to be living
dinosaurs today is the crocodiles. These are giant predators with bite forces
of 2125 pounds which is equivalent to the weight of a small pickup truck. A grab of
crocodile jaws or “the jaws of death” is inevitable followed by the “death
roll” of a crocodile and the prey is torn into pieces and swallowed as jaws
are not built to chew. Sharp claws and thick skin that even a bullet does not
easily pierce into make a crocodile the ultimate predator of waters.
But can someone think of swimming with a crocodile in water and
taming it keeping it as a pet?
Yes, this is very much true as an American
crocodile named “
Pocho” became world-famous
because of its relationship with Gilberto Shedden, a local fisherman in Costa
Rica.
Gilberto used to swim and play with Pocho as if it was tamed by him
and Pocho even responded to his name
whenever he was called for. Pocho was rescued and raised by Shedden when Pocho
was shot by a farmer for killing his livestock and soon Pocho had built a special bond with Shedden.
Wallaby
These are probably one of the cutest animals from the
marsupial clan found in Australia. These closely related to kangaroos are found
in the shrubs and grassland region and have a pouch in which they carry their
young one known as “joey”. Recently in countries like Australia, New Zealand, and some states of America, the craze for having a pet wallaby has
increased a lot.

Although these may seem to be cute, gentle creatures but can
be dangerous and aggressive too especially their large hind legs kick and tail
which could cause severe damage to a person if attacked. While there have been
incidents in the past wherein people were brutally attacked by either a kangaroo
or a wallaby but death due to wallaby has not been recorded to date.
People have started keeping wallaby as pets but one fact
should be kept in mind that these are not pet animals but wild ones and nature
has created them in the same way with their natural instincts which cannot be
subdued even if they are raised as pets.

Recently this year, a
four-year-old boy was attacked by wallabies in north Queensland, Australia. The boy was playing infield when a
group of wallabies attacked and knocked him down leaving deep cuts, bites,
bruises on his body after which he was admitted to the hospital and received
medical care. The region is now very well known for multiple attacks on humans
by wallabies in recent years.
Racoon
This bear-like mammal is found everywhere from the forest,
marshes, prairies, and large cities. According to the study, raccoons are one of the
most adaptable animals which are surviving and thriving in urban cities very
efficiently as these can eat anything to everything whatever fits in their mouth
such as vegetables, insects, garbage, and many more.
These creatures can easily
be sighted in the night dining out in garbage cans in the cities and cause
damage to property and gardens when intruding creating chaos in search of food.
Because of this reason this animal is criticized by the people and animal
control units are always on the job to remove a destructive raccoon in every
other neighborhood.

But on the contrary, some people find raccoon as a perfect
pest, which honestly these are not, and keep them besides in their houses. A
group of raccoons is known as “ nursery” while these nocturnal creatures are mostly scened wandering alone. These have dense coats with a black nose and ringed
tail. It has sharp teeth and claws which helps it during scavenging for food
and the main reason for the destruction caused by it.
Because of such reasons and a raccoon having natural hunting
instincts is definitely not considered a good pet but still, we can find
raccoons being kept as pets. One of such and very popular is “
Titi “ the raccoon who is a pet of guy named Mitchell who rescued Tito from animal control
services when he was going to be put down. But in fact, was rescued and cared by
Mitchell and is a celebrity pet today featuring on social media and many
youtube videos.
Anteater
These are the most threatened mammal of Central America
which has no teeth and one of the longest tongues in the animal world. It
uses its sharp claws to excavate termite and ant colonies and grab thousands of
them in a single lick with its sticky tongue which is able to reach out to
small opening and holes where most of the colony is concentrated.

It is quite large and commonly known as the giant ant-eater
can reach up to a size of 8 feet from its long mouth to tail. These are in general not aggressive but keeping in mind
its sharp claws and dietary habits, it can be one of the most challenging
pets to keep.

However, these unique features make these animals not
to be kept as pets attract many animal geeks and they are always ready to take
such a challenge. Such as case is with “
Pua” the anteater which is kept as a pet
by a woman in Oregon State and the women take complete care of Pua.
Bison
Ever heard of anyone having a wild bison in his backyard
which sleeps, eat and wander around his house like he is one the members of the
family. Yes, this is very much true as a Texas couple having his ranch has
turned his house into place inhabiting
a bison named “ Wild Thing”. He has its
own bedroom in the house and wanders around the entire house and eats with
couple on the table even.
But one needs to have guts to do such a thing as these
bison are very aggressive in their temperament and some can weigh up to 2200
pounds even. Their horns, bang of their head which is equivalent to collision
with a pickup truck can be easily fatal for any person if things turned around.
Despite all the weirdness and strange behavior of the
animals, people take it as a challenge to tame them and keep them as pets. This
close contact is not in favor of the natural strata that nature has devised
keeping wild animals and people away from conflict.
